Harnessing contactless in-home sensing and deep learning to bridge the monitoring gap in Parkinson’s disease
March 29, 2023
Current monitoring tools for Parkinson’s Disease (PD)—questionnaires, diaries, and structured clinical exams—have well-known limitations, including subjectivity, variability with PD symptoms throughout the day, and poor patient adherence. Clinicians see patients every few months, and have to face a monitoring void in between two appointments.
To bridge the monitoring gap, Domo Health teamed up with PD experts of the CHUV to develop a solution that can be used by patients in the comfort of their home, passively, while covering symptoms that have the most impact on their quality of life. The solution we propose, refined through multiple clinical studies, leverages a contactless under-the-mattress sensor and Domo Health’s deep-learning algorithms to provide nightly measures of sleep quality, motion during sleep, bathroom visits, heart and respiratory rates, and more.
Accessisble through our platform's dashboard designed with clinicians, for clinicians, nightly measures reveal an unprecedented level of detail about disease trajectories and treatment effects. Clinicians are not kept in the dark between patient visits anymore, and have the opportunity to react promptly in case of unexpected health changes.
