Taking post-stroke monitoring to the next level using neuroimaging and wearable sensors

Stroke is the second leading cause of death in the world. About one quarter of people will have a stroke in their lifetime. Among those, an estimated one quarter will have a second stroke, and two thirds will not survive more than a decade past their first stroke.
When it comes to preventing stroke, a more targeted approach is required with those who have already experienced stroke. By identifying the specific risks that make people more vulnerable, a personalized plan can be developed to keep them in shape, and to reduce their overall risk of cardiovascular issues.
In collaboration with the Stroke Unit of the Centre Hospitalier du Valais Romand (CHRV), we are constantly exploring new ways to exploit the potential of digital health technologies to evaluate the risk of stroke recurrence, and to better predict the functional outcomes of people who just had a first stroke—from the moment they enter the Stroke Unit, all the way to their months-long road to recovery at home.
